What makes Reno so special?

Midsize cities in the U.S. are seeing a renaissance as people from large metro areas are getting sick of the hustle and bustle by putting down roots in smaller cities like Reno, Nevada. Compared to big cities, you’ll find better priced housing, improved quality of life, and business opportunities galore. What is the secret of the Biggest Little City that makes it such a great place to settle down? We have five great reasons why!

  1. YES to Business and Jobs; NO to Income Tax.

One of the largest winters on record graced the Reno-Tahoe region and each week we can feel it getting a little bit warmer.

When it seemed like spring would never come, suddenly the sun is shining! Those bluebird days put the itch of summer in our shoes and we’re looking forward to enjoying so many springtime activities. You can enjoy the best of both worlds, or as locals affectionately call it “The Tahoe Trifecta”.

What is the Trifecta? Golf, boat/kayak and ski all in the same day. Seems impossible, but we can guarantee you that it isn’t. The weather is just warm enough to be comfortable, but not so warm that the lake is full of boats and paddlers.

The many different colors and the crisp, clear air pair perfectly with the clear blues of Lake Tahoe’s waters (and of course a snack). No matter your hiking level, the five below range in distance and difficulty so there is a hike here for you!

Lake Margaret

The hike to Lake Margaret is an out-and-back trail of about 4.6 miles. Located in the El Dorado National Forest, there are large granite rocks all along the

The Taylor Creek Visitor Center is the place to be this weekend to see the kokanee salmon make their way upstream for spawning.

The Fall Fish Festival returns on October 6 – 7 from 10a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and all of the salmon have turned bright red just in time. The Taylor Creek Visitor Center is located on California Route 89 about 3 miles north of South Lake Tahoe. The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit hosts the event in collaboration with Great Basin Institute and the festival offers opportunities to learn about native fish species in Tahoe and its tributaries. The Lahontan cutthroat trout is considered “threatened” as a species by the federal government.

On Saturday, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has a giant
