Imagine Tahoe’s crystal blue waters… turned into a sea of white sails!

Nearly 100 Laser Class sailboats bobbed merrily through the water in a four-day race for the U.S. Laser National Championships and U.S. Singlehanded Championships. The Tahoe Yacht Club hosted the event for the first time and is by far the most prestigious event the club has put on to date. Laser Fleet Captain and Tahoe Yacht Club Commodore Rick Raduziner was sure it was the largest sailing competition on the lake in several decades.

Reno has been compared to Silicon Valley, however three successful startups explain why they favor the biggest little city.


Rising rents and crowded freeways have put tension on the American Dream in the Bay Area. Tech giants have staked their claim in the region and are enticing not only startups, but talented people who are striving for something more. U.S. Census data taken in the Bay Area showed an emigration in 2016. Educated tech workers are moving out of the area and many of them are coming here to Reno.

The newest trend for businesses might just be… moving to Reno!

MINEMAN Systems is an international mining software company that will soon be opening its next location in Reno, NV. They recently leased 1,067 sqft. of office space in downtown’s 50 W. Liberty building. Headquartered in Australia, the company’s new Reno offices will allow MINEMAN to expand its global footprint.

The company offers cloud-based software and business services to mining companies. They help mining operations sell and buy base and precious metals around the world. Twenty-eight different countries use their software including big names like Newmont, Goldcorp, Newcrest and more.
