The snowpack of Lake Tahoe is reaching record-breaking numbers.

In just 5 days, Lake Tahoe saw 8 feet of snow. At 7,000 feet, meteorologists say that 237 inches have fallen this month alone. This beats the 1973 record of 159 inches of snow that fell in ALL of January that year. Overall, the snowpack at this elevation has gotten 80% of the season average. Since we’re only 43% of the way through the ski season, snow enthusiasts are excited.

There’s even more snow at higher elevations and the legendary ski resorts that surround the lake on all sides. So far this winter, Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe is boasting over 461 inches of snow. The average snow that Mt. Rose sees in a season is typically around 350 inches. The resort lies at a base elevation of 8,260

With the economy on the upswing and Nevada especially benefitting, the Reno-Tahoe International Airport has been reviewing its master plan.

The airport’s master planning committee decided to create a new plan last October and the process is expected to take 16 months. Studies will need to be conducted that will forecast commercial airport passenger and air cargo figures as well as general aviation and military operations within the next 20 years. Depending upon what they find, the master plan will include base-growth, low-growth and high-growth scenarios for 2021, 2026 and 2036.

Reno’s core has developers dropping millions of dollars on new projects.

Many buildings in Reno’s downtown and Midtown are being replaced and updated by exciting urban developments. Developers have said in many interviews through 2016 that it only takes a few large early adopters to spur others to join them in changing the neighborhoods.
