The annual celebrity golf tournament at Edgewood Tahoe helped raise over $55,000 for three local nonprofits.

The education-focused nonprofits consisted of Lake Tahoe Community College Foundation, Lake Tahoe Educational Foundation and Tahoe-Douglas Rotary Club. On August 23, each nonprofit was presented with a $18,410 check at Edgewood. The three groups donated 400 volunteer hours to staff the concession stands during the 2018 American Century Championship Celebrity Golf Tournament. This year, the event saw record attendance of 57,097.

Lake Tahoe is enjoying the largest snowpack in 22 years.

Experts say that the snow will last until mid-summer and several of the local ski resorts are extending their season into June – some even to the Fourth of July. This translates to excellent spring conditions and dual days, the term used to describe weather perfect for multiple activities.

TEDx South Lake Tahoe is designed to stimulate your brain.

On Wednesday, October 5 The Loft at Heavenly Village will host 9 diverse individuals. Each presenter will have up to 18 minutes to convey their exciting ideas on a subject in the technology, entertainment and design fields. TED Talks have expanded their Northern Nevada reach and are coming to Lake Tahoe.

Robin DeSota led the effort to bring TEDx Talks to South Shore. Topics covered by the nine presenters will range from why failure should be on everyone’s bucket list to why art matters to philanthropy and even ways to use music festivals as a model for sustainability.
