The East Shore Trail between Incline Village and Sand Harbor State Park is now open! 

The three mile route features 17 designated vista points, 11 designated shoreline access points, eight bear-proof trash stations, more than 30 bike racks, three bike repair stations with air pumps and tools, five bathrooms and five benches with more on the way. There are also six bridges, one of which is the longest bridge in the Tahoe Basin at 810 feet.

The parking is currently free. At the trailhead, there are three new parking lots with about 90 spaces near Ponderosa Road right off of State Route 28. In the coming months, it will be converted to paid parking through the Tahoe Transportation District, with revenues to be used

Valhalla Renaissance Faire

The Faire is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary this year and will display more than 800 actors on 3 stages. The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival returns for the 45th time to Sand Harbor, Lake Tahoe.

There are many Shakespeare festivals throughout the United States, however none is quite like the LTSF. The backdrop alone is unrivaled – a packed sand amphitheater surrounded by picture-perfect Ponderosa Pine Trees stretching to the sky and the clear, deep blue waters of Lake Tahoe. Locals fondly call the festival “Shakespeare in the sand”. One could argue that the seats furthest from the stage provide the best views; the higher you are, the better you can see the lake and surrounding Sierra Nevada Mountains.

The actual experience is far more sophisticated than “Shakespeare in the sand” might suggest. You won’t find folks lounging around in après-swim
