Reno is a unique city because it perfectly captures the mix of big-city attractions and a small-town vibe. A lot has changed in the last few years and there is a new vibe of re-energized ways to eat, drink and play. Here’s our suggestion for a 24-hour, fun-filled adventure.

Saturday afternoon

Kick off at the Grand Sierra Resort with their ice skating rink near the resort pool. Hit the ice with your skates, then grab some apres-skate hot chocolate and s’mores from the bar. You can head inside to warm up, or get toasty by one of the firepits. If you’d rather stay inside, they have tons of great options – bowling, laser tag, an arcade, indoor golf and more.

Marking its fifth anniversary, Reno Bites Week expands to 10 days this year. 




This annual celebration of Reno food culture will extend from October 7 – 16, while the first four years of the events were seven days long. Also new this year is participation by the local casinos including Bistro Napa in the Atlantis, Brew Brothers in the Eldorado, Canter's Deli in the Silver Legacy and El Jefe's Cantina in Circus Circus.  


This week features nearly 30 restaurants (including 12 new to the event) that will offer various specials, prix fixe menus and signature events. The popular Chef Showdown, a cook-off showcasing top local chefs, returns this year to Czyz's Appliance.

2016 was a great year for dining in the Biggest Little City, from national recognition to multiple exciting firsts, the Reno-Gazette Journal highlights the top twelve foodie movements.

In January 2016, Clint Jolly owner of Great Thyme Catering, went on to win first place on Chopped: Impossible Restaurant Challenge. Jolly bested 400 other U.S. chefs on the national Food Network channel, causing people to question if he would be the next chef to break out from Northern Nevada.

The 5th Annual Reno Bites Week returns with 10 days of events on October 7.

The yearly celebration of Reno’s foodie culture is back with a bang and will have more than two dozen food establishments participating in the events that run from October 7 until the 14. Restaurants are offering specials and menus at $10, $20 and $30. The organization has chosen the befitting tagline “Break the Chain.
