The Reno-Tahoe region has been on the rise in the media and housing is no exception.

While more jobs are being created in Northern Nevada, that means more people are coming to fill those jobs. While the median Reno housing market has been on the rise, what does that mean for the luxury market?

That percentage is on the increase and there are predictions that the number of homes sales will double this year over 2017. Along with Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval and Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve, Apple CEO Tim Cook surprised us all with his appearance at the groundbreaking of the new data center in Downtown Reno.

The new $4 million warehouse is a small extension of Apple’s already wide footprint on the Reno area. The company has announced plans to invest $350 billion in the U.S. economy over the next five years, including doubling the size of its $1 billion data center east of Reno.

“We are pleased to be part of transforming downtown Reno to the vibrant city it should be,” Cook said at the ceremony. “Our commitment to Reno and Northern Nevada is representative of the commitments we’ve made throughout the U.S.”

The Cyclocross National Championships were just held near the University of Nevada, Reno, over the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend.

Las Vegas’ CrossVegas is one of the best-known cyclocross events in the U.S. and the first place that a World Cup was hosted, so it only makes sense that the event should come to Reno. Right? The 2018 USA Cyclocross National Championships took over Rancho San Rafael Regional Park from Tuesday, January 9 until Sunday, January 14.

The Reno Airport just got more chic and stylish – the new Escape Lounge is now open for relaxation and connectivity.

Opening on December 15, the Escape Lounge is the latest in style, food, drink and connection. Located just beyond the security connector joining concourses B and C at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, this getaway spot has arrived just in time for the holidays.

Unlike other airport lounges, Escape is open to all passengers in whichever class of service. Fees are $40 in advance and $45 for walk-in. American Express Platinum Card holders get the added perk of free access. The lounge is open daily from 4:30 am to 8pm and bookings can be made through their online service.

Northern Nevada has earned big headlines in the news as a major tech hub, but is it really the next Silicon Valley?

Particularly since Tesla began construction on its Gigafactory, Reno has had national headlines pegging it as the newest Silicon Valley. Lately, they’ve sounded something like this:

“For decades, the city was a gambling mecca. But when casinos fell on hard times, Reno struggled. The city has reinvented itself as a tech hub, thanks to recent arrivals like Tesla.”
