Cinco de Mayo Celebration

This is Northern Nevada’s largest annual celebration of Hispanic heritage at the Glow Plaza in downtown Reno! Enjoy dancing horses, music, food and more. Get ready to fiesta like there’s no mañana at this electrifying Cinco de Mayo Festival. This event is sure to be an unforgettable celebration packed with vibrant music, mouthwatering food and non-stop fun for the whole family.

Hot August Nights Spring Fever Revival

Jumpstart the season with Hot August Nights Spring Fever Revival. This annual event gets your engines warmed up and ready for a summer of classic car events. Registration is open to all 1979 and older cars, pickup-size trucks, and emergency vehicles.

 

Celtic Woman

May 17

Created by Sharon Browne and David Dowes, Celtic Woman is an all-female ensemble that play traditional Irish music and modern songs, with stylistic similarities to the likes of Enya, Moya Brennan and Clannad. Rising out of the Riverdance stage production, David Downes, the show’s music director, decided to form a vocal group that could take their traditional, celtic-oriented contemporary music to a wider audience. Since coming together in 2004, the band have achieved huge success, bolstered by their energetic performances that incorporate dance and song. Their first release shot them straight to the top of the Billboard World Music chart, staying there for 81 weeks, launching Celtic Woman’s long career.

 

Chili on the Comstock

Spicy, mild or chili verde? Pick your favorite at the 42nd Chili on the Comstock where the International Chili World Qualifier takes over Virginia City with mouth-watering chili. While some of the best chili cooks in the West compete for a spot in the International Chili Society World Finals, they’re also looking for your vote for ‘People’s Choice Chili’. Think you have an award-winning chili recipe? Sign up as a cook. And what’s chili without beer? Pair those tastings with some frosty brews in our Craft Beer Tour. Virginia City’s famous saloons and the Chili on the Comstock Craft Beer Tents are pouring hand-selected local and regional craft beers all weekend long. Tour tickets guarantee you 12 beer samples and 3 sweet treats.

 

Reno-Tahoe Odyssey 

May 31 - June 1

The Reno-Tahoe Odyssey Relay Run Adventure (RTO) is a relay from Reno to Lake Tahoe and back to Reno making a large 178 mile loop around the Reno-Tahoe region. The relay starts at Wingfield Park along the Truckee River in downtown Reno, passes through Truckee, Tahoe City, South Lake Tahoe, Genoa, Carson City and Virginia City before returning to Reno and finishing at Idlewild Park. The course is divided into 36 legs or segments, with each leg averaging about 5 miles.
