Kicking off the month, catch the Reno Aces take on the Sacramento River Cats at Greater Nevada Field from April 2nd to 7th. But that's just the beginning – on April 6th, TEDxReno will ignite minds and spark discussions at the Lawlor Events Center. And the excitement doesn't stop there! From the farewell tour of Gladys Knight to the comedic genius of Jerry Seinfeld, there's something for everyone in the Biggest Little City this April. So, get ready to immerse yourself in a whirlwind of entertainment, inspiration, and unforgettable experiences!

TEDxReno

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. TEDxReno takes the stage at Lawlor Events Center on April 6!

 

Peter Frampton: Never Ever Say Never Tour

Grammy-winning guitarist Peter Frampton is bringing his Never EVER Say Never Tour to Reno. After more than 50 years of touring, Frampton has announced that this tour will be his last. Frampton, while an established solo performer, has also been in bands like Humble Pie, Frampton Comes Alive, The Herd, and Ringo Starr & His All-Star Band. His collaborations in recording sessions and live performances include artists such as George Harrison, Harry Nilsson, David Bowie, Dion, Hank Marvin, Ringo Starr, B.B. King, Mike McCready & Matt Cameron (Pearl Jam), Buddy Guy, Steve Miller and many others.

 

AVA Ballet Theatre Presents Cinderella

April 13 - 14

The spring gala season for the A.V.A. Ballet Theatre opens with the classic fairytale Cinderella on April 13 and 14 at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. The Reno Philharmonic Orchestra will perform the magnificent score to this wonderful ballet. Re-staged and re-choreographed by Alexander Van Alstyne, Cinderella is the captivating story of the hopes of a lowly maid, the love of a prince, and the magic of a simple wand set to Prokofiev’s enchanting score. This classic fairytale is filled with mesmerizing dance, romance, and comedy and is fun for the entire family.

 

Festival of Colors

Get Ready for Festival of Colors 2024! This multicultural event brings the community together with live music, DJs, dancing, yoga, food and drink, a kids’ area, arts and crafts, and more.

 

Mahler’s Fifth Symphony

April 20 - 21

The Reno Phil Chorus joins the orchestra for the rousing season finale. Audiences will be delighted by the powerful sound of Poulenc’s Gloria, mixing musical styles with a dizzying, kaleidoscopic effect. The 55th season will close with one of Mahler’s most magnificent works, his Symphony No. 5. From the first trumpet call, to delicate Adagietto, to massive horn anthem, each moment is brimming with emotion.

 

Reno Jazz Festival 

April 25 - 27

Mark your calendar for the 62nd Annual Jazz Festival offering a richer, deeper and more diverse educational and artistic experience for participants. Participants and attendees have access to two full days of daytime performances and jazz clinics, covering a range of topics presented by accomplished jazz musicians and Artist Educators from around the nation.

 

Jerry Seinfeld

Jerry Seinfeld’s comedy career took off after his first appearance on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1981. Eight years later, he teamed up with fellow comedian Larry David to create what was to become the most successful comedy series in the history of television: Seinfeld. The show ran on NBC for nine seasons, winning numerous Emmy, Golden Globe and People’s Choice awards, and was named the greatest television show of all time in 2009 by TV Guide, and in 2012 was identified as the best sitcom ever in a 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair poll.

 

Gladys Knight: Farewell Tour

The Empress of Soul is back! The “Empress of Soul” is back. One of Motown’s most iconic acts, Gladys Knight, graces the stage of the Grand Theatre at Grand Sierra Resort as a part of her 2024 tour. Likely best known for her original rendition of the R&B classic “I Heard It Through the Grapevine (1967),” Knight remains in the limelight as one of the all-time greats for the last 60 years. The seven-time Grammy award winner has won awards across three categories including Pop, R&B and Gospel, plus another 22 nominations.
