New Adventure Park Makes Everyone Feel like a Ninja Warrior

Want to swing from ropes, climb a volcano, joust on a balance beam, or walk across a ladder suspended high into the air? Now you can!

Urban Air Adventure Park opened this weekend next to the Reno Costco on Plumb Lane. It has trampoline dodge ball, climbing walls galore, balance beam jousting like you see on TV, a challenging but fun obstacle course, a room-sized zip-coaster and other stunts. The best part is that the kids can play while adults either play along, or grab a drink in the adult lounge.

“I can’t get over how much kids and adults enjoy our attractions,” said co-owner and co-manager Sue Davis.

Davis opened up the franchise alongside her family with just a short year of preparation. The strip mall space was converted to a new indoor playground. This location is the company’s first park on the West Coast. Davis loves to see children leaving the park feeling more confident. One child was afraid to take the sky coaster hanging from the ceiling this past weekend, but as he was cheered on by friends and family he finally took the leap.

“As soon as he was done, he said, ‘I want to go again!’” Davis said.

The park has different areas divided from different activities. The center is home to the Ninja Warrior-inspired obstacle course. The back is chock-full of trampolines for assisted flips, basketball slam dunks and of course, dodge ball. There’s another area that is for “expert jumpers” with extremely bouncy trampolines. And finally, there’s a “soft zone” for the smaller kiddos to play in.

All of the zones and activities are regulated by height requirements and employees go through training to keep children safe, encourage them to participate and to maintain good behavior. None of the children are unattended, so that means parents can take a break from supervising or sign the kids in and leave them for a few hours. With four party areas, a café and an adult lounge, the bookings have already filled up. Everything from child and adult birthday parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties and team-building parties.

The lounge serves up local craft beers and popular wines. However, once someone gets a drink from the adult lounge (or even enters) they are no longer allowed to play on the equipment and will get a different wristband. Safety first! None of the staff want to worry about clean up around adults bouncing on trampolines after drinking beer. There are minimal screens in the place – just for signing in and watching sports in the lounge. Davis wanted to put the kabosh on any video games or distractions to take away from the quality play time. It’s a place for people to communicate and interact.

The park is open seven days a week and prices range from $13 to $25 for different activities and play times. There’s add-ons available and group rates. You can learn more about the whole park here.
