The United States Tennis Association (USTA) has announced that Team USA will play at the Reno Events Center for the 2022 Davis Cup qualifier against Colombia. The competition will take place March 4 – 5 and be the very first Davis Cup match in Reno as well as the first in Nevada since 1995. In fact, the only time that the competition has taken place in the Silver State was when the U.S. and Sweden played at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas 17 years ago.

A Davis Cup event is an international showcase of some of the world’s best tennis players and is viewed as the World Cup of men’s tennis. The competition is the largest international team play in world sport with almost 150 nations participating every year. The upcoming qualifier is a best-of-five match series played over two days, including two singles matches Friday with a doubles match and two reverse singles matches on Saturday. The winner will continue on to the 2022 Davis Cup Finals, a 16-nation, multi-city competition held later this year (dates and locations TBD).

“Davis Cup events in the U.S. amount to weeklong celebrations of tennis, and we’re excited to bring that to Reno — a region with a rich tennis community and great USTA Section support,” Megan Rose, USTA's Managing Director of Major Events, said in a news release.

Reno Tahoe is blessed by more than 300 sunny days per year and tennis isn’t the only sport to enjoy. Enjoy the fresh air of the winter season with snowy mountain peaks beckoning to our ski community. Whether you’re enjoying fresh air or taking a dip in our many surrounding lakes, it’s easy to find your perfect oasis in Northern Nevada. Where else could you ski in the morning and golf later that afternoon? Or hike to a summit then enjoy a walking art tour through Midtown? Plan your ultimate day of adventure in Reno Tahoe and you will not be disappointed.

The Reno Events Center, open since January 2005, will have a capacity of 4,000 fans for the matches. Tickets are now on sale for the general public.
