A time capsule was stashed away in the cornerstone of a Masonic lodge in Reno from the year 1872.
What was inside this artifact?



Leaders of the Freemasons and local experts joined Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve last month to unveil the
materials from inside the lead box. The time capsule was hidden in what was recently the oldest
standing commercial building in the city founded four years after Nevada was granted statehood in
1864.


Inside they discovered silver dollars minted in Carson City and San Francisco, and a piece of wood from
Sutter’s Mill where the discovery of gold sparked the California Gold Rush. Other items inside were a
quartz specimen from the drill at Sutter’s Mill, a harmonica, a business card from the Young Men’s
Christian Association (YMCA)

The Reno Airport just got more chic and stylish – the new Escape Lounge is now open for relaxation and connectivity.

Opening on December 15, the Escape Lounge is the latest in style, food, drink and connection. Located just beyond the security connector joining concourses B and C at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, this getaway spot has arrived just in time for the holidays.

Unlike other airport lounges, Escape is open to all passengers in whichever class of service. Fees are $40 in advance and $45 for walk-in. American Express Platinum Card holders get the added perk of free access. The lounge is open daily from 4:30 am to 8pm and bookings can be made through their online service.

Outside Magazine listed Reno as one of its “25 of America’s Best Towns Ever”.

The popular publication is focused on the outdoors and included Seattle, Kansas City, Bend, Austin, Boise, Kona and Fort Collins in the list. Reno was listed as the “best low-key hideout” in America.

Outside Magazine quoted: “Reno is home to the world’s tallest climbing wall (164 feet at BaseCamp, located at the Whitney Peak Hotel), year-round desert mountain biking, a half-mile long downtown whitewater-kayaking park and the 55-degree chutes at Mount Rose Ski Resort, just 25 minutes uphill from the slot machines.”

Reno’s core has developers dropping millions of dollars on new projects.
