Divided between California and Nevada is Lake Tahoe, or as the indigenous Washoe Indians called it “The Lake of the Sky”. Whatever activities you’re into, the area holds adventure every day of the year. With the dozens of world-class resorts, terrain parks and backcountry for skiing, snowboarding and other snow bunny fun, winter is just a starting point for adventure-seekers. There’s also countless hiking trails for trekkers, mountain bikers and more – and we haven’t even gotten to the actual lake yet. Boat, sail, wakeboard, SUP, waterski and even surf on Tahoe’s crystal-clear waters.

Marking its fifth anniversary, Reno Bites Week expands to 10 days this year. 




This annual celebration of Reno food culture will extend from October 7 – 16, while the first four years of the events were seven days long. Also new this year is participation by the local casinos including Bistro Napa in the Atlantis, Brew Brothers in the Eldorado, Canter's Deli in the Silver Legacy and El Jefe's Cantina in Circus Circus.  


This week features nearly 30 restaurants (including 12 new to the event) that will offer various specials, prix fixe menus and signature events. The popular Chef Showdown, a cook-off showcasing top local chefs, returns this year to Czyz's Appliance.

Lake Tahoe is enjoying the largest snowpack in 22 years.

Experts say that the snow will last until mid-summer and several of the local ski resorts are extending their season into June – some even to the Fourth of July. This translates to excellent spring conditions and dual days, the term used to describe weather perfect for multiple activities.

Ski in the morning and go kayaking or hiking in the afternoon. While you’re at it, don’t forget to stop at the area’s best and newest restaurants and bars.

North Lake

Mount Rose Ski Tahoe has the most snow in North America with 700 inches of snowfall, according to the National Weather Service. That equates to the height of the Yerba Buena Tunnel on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. Their
