One of the largest winters on record graced the Reno-Tahoe region and each week we can feel it getting a little bit warmer.

When it seemed like spring would never come, suddenly the sun is shining! Those bluebird days put the itch of summer in our shoes and we’re looking forward to enjoying so many springtime activities. You can enjoy the best of both worlds, or as locals affectionately call it “The Tahoe Trifecta”.

What is the Trifecta? Golf, boat/kayak and ski all in the same day. Seems impossible, but we can guarantee you that it isn’t. The weather is just warm enough to be comfortable, but not so warm that the lake is full of boats and paddlers.

Lake Tahoe has water so deep it could sink the Empire State Building and you still wouldn’t see the top. Combined with the surrounding tall mountains and ski resorts make Tahoe a winter paradise.

Tahoe’s ski areas are all within easy reach of one another, our top three each have a distinct look, personality and audience. What’s great about those three is that they are all operated by Vail Resorts and can be ridden with one Epic Pass. Next month is the Epic Pass’s 10th anniversary and the program now offers access to 46 ski resorts in seven countries around the world!

TEDx South Lake Tahoe is designed to stimulate your brain.

On Wednesday, October 5 The Loft at Heavenly Village will host 9 diverse individuals. Each presenter will have up to 18 minutes to convey their exciting ideas on a subject in the technology, entertainment and design fields. TED Talks have expanded their Northern Nevada reach and are coming to Lake Tahoe.

Robin DeSota led the effort to bring TEDx Talks to South Shore. Topics covered by the nine presenters will range from why failure should be on everyone’s bucket list to why art matters to philanthropy and even ways to use music festivals as a model for sustainability.
