Now residents of Reno-Tahoe can catch a quick, nonstop flight to the Eureka/Arcata community in Northern California. The inaugural flight service is offered by aha!, an airline powered by veteran ExpressJet Airlines, and began on November 9th.

Flights will operate each Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday departing the California Redwood Coast – Humboldt County Airport at 11:25 a.m. PT and arrive at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport by 12:35 p.m. PT. Flights from Reno to Eureka will depart at 9:30 a.m. PT and arrive at 10:40 a.m. PT.

"We are pleased to begin service from Reno to Eureka, giving travelers in both markets the ability to put together, for example, a short spontaneous two- or three-night trip using lower week-day hotel rates" said

The luxury market in Northern Nevada is defined as homes valued at $1,000,000 or higher. It’s also important to consider that people who own this price home in the Nevada market are very likely to own another luxury home in a different market. Fennell shares who is buying and selling these properties and what some of the trends in this price range are. The Reno-Tahoe region has been on the rise in the media and housing is no exception.

While more jobs are being created in Northern Nevada, that means more people are coming to fill those jobs. While the median Reno housing market has been on the rise, what does that mean for the luxury market?

Only 3-4% of Reno-area home sales involve luxury homes with a price tag of $900,000 and up. That percentage is on the increase and there are predictions that the number of homes sales will double this year over 2017. Changes in the federal tax laws have already pushed up interest in the Reno market. Northern Nevada has earned big headlines in the news as a major tech hub, but is it really the next Silicon Valley?

Particularly since Tesla began construction on its Gigafactory, Reno has had national headlines pegging it as the newest Silicon Valley. Lately, they’ve sounded something like this:

“For decades, the city was a gambling mecca. But when casinos fell on hard times, Reno struggled. The city has reinvented itself as a tech hub, thanks to recent arrivals like Tesla.”

After going through the toughest recession in its history, Northern Nevada has hit some major economic development victories.

Last year, 156.4 million pounds of cargo came through Reno’s airport the three to four weeks prior to Christmas. This whopping number was an all-time record for the facility. And the airport isn’t the only player in the region to see shipping traffic “take off”.
