We are kicking off the New Year with great intentions – to have more fun! Our team has so much gratitude for this place that we call home and all of the wonderful recreation that it provides. We are just getting into the winter season and wanted to share with you some of our favorite local activities – you can even enjoy them with social distancing!

When it seemed like spring would never come, suddenly the sun is shining! Those bluebird days put the itch of summer in our shoes and we’re looking forward to enjoying so many springtime activities. You can enjoy the best of both worlds, or as locals affectionately call it “The Tahoe Trifecta”.

What is the Trifecta? Golf, boat/kayak and ski all in the same day. Seems impossible, but we can guarantee you that it isn’t. The weather is just warm enough to be comfortable, but not so warm that the lake is full of boats and paddlers.

Lake Tahoe ski resorts have extended their operations well into the spring following record snowfall in February.

Skiers and riders rejoice! More than 50 feet of snow has fallen so far this season and the mountains could even get a bit more. An extended season has been announced by the area’s resorts, which means more bang for your buck for season pass-holders.

Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows will operate lifts in Squaw through July 7, which is just 8 days shy of their latest closing date ever on July 15, 2017. Last year, Squaw closed following Memorial Day weekend. Alpine Meadows will operate into May with its schedule dependent on both weather and the construction of a high-speed chair lift that will replace Hot Wheels.

The Epic Pass was released by Vail Resorts ten years ago and revolutionized the way ski resorts make money with one season pass to rule all of the company’s mountains for just a few hundred dollars. The Epic Pass price tag today is $949 and offers unlimited skiing at 65 resorts in eight states, Canada, Europe, Australia and Japan. The Reno Tahoe Winter Games Coalition has been invited to take part in an unprecedented accelerated process to select the next U.S. city to represent to the country in a future Winter Olympic bid competition.

The coalition released a press release that it has a hard deadline of November 9 to decide whether it wants to accept the official invite from the U.S. Olympic Committee. The coalition has long held the formal role of representing the area’s interests in Olympic-related matters. The invitation included a comprehensive workbook seeking detailed information on a variety of bid categories and factors.

Snowsport enthusiasts are patiently waiting for the powder to fall on Lake Tahoe’s ski resorts. Here’s all that’s new for the 2018/2019 season.

Believe it or not, ski season has begun in the Tahoe region and the hopes for another long and strong winter are high. Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe opened limited terrain the weekend of October 19 for season-pass holders and plans to reopen to the public this weekend (October 26) with limited terrain. Mt. Rose is usually the first to open due to its area-high base elevation of 8,260 feet.

Last year we had a weaker snow season overall in the greater Reno-Tahoe area, but Mt. Rose still had 324 inches of snow which allowed its skiers to carve and glide down its 1,200 acres from October to the end of April. During the
