Quarantine Quip: Realtors Get Real

Posted by Heather Neal on Monday, April 13th, 2020 at 4:47pm

As we are all adjusting to a temporary "new normal" with COVID-19, our team thought it would be fun to do a light-hearted interview. Nestle in, grab your favorite snack, and join us for a little Q&A.

What is the best silver lining with the additional time at home?

Brooke Sullivan: Spending time with my family. Getting to enjoy my daughters without being in a rush to fit it all in.

Rob Wonhof: Time for continuing education and it can all be done virtually (instead of half live classes).  I am going to start any minute now!

Monica Gore: Being able to spend quality time with my children without distraction. They really love the additional attention I'm giving them and that makes us all happy.

Heather Neal: My daughter is temporarily home from college, so it’s wonderful to have her under my roof again. Our family has been cooking every night and it’s a treat to have all four of us around the dinner table.

What is your favorite show/movie to binge watch right now?

Brooke: Ozark and does meditation with Deepak count?

Monica: Keeping Up with the Kardashians! I am going to watch the Tiger King next.

Heather: We’ve been watching all the Best Picture nominees. And Tiger King, of course!

Have you supported any local restaurants with curb-side/delivery services?

Brooke: Skipolini’s Pizza. I also bought gift cards at Port of Subs for Ronald McDonald House

Rob: We have supported The Grill, Bella Italia, Arario, Nik-n-Willie’s and the Montreux Club.  We have also utilized Raley’s pickup & delivery, Home Depot pickup and Office Depot pickup.  We intend to support Whispering Vine and Bistro 7 soon.  We are also preparing some financial donations to the Food Bank, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Boys & Girls Club.

Monica: Beaujolais Bistro

Heather: We’ve done several take-out dinners from the ArrowCreek Club and utilized the eCart service from Raley’s. We also have a “treat” basket by our front door for all the mail carriers, that’s filled with bottled water and lots of snacks to help them re-fuel. They are working so hard right now!

Have you taken up a new hobby or brought an old one back to life?

Brooke: First time to complete a 1000+ piece puzzle and snow shoe with the family. My inner Martha Stewart is coming out and I’m baking like a champ. Today is Babka! Also turning into a “spinner” - love my Peloton. Who knew I loved bike riding so much?

Rob: Walking the dog more as the weather improves, talking to my wife more, playing cribbage with her every afternoon while she kicks my butt (fortunately opening wine at 3:30pm helps!).

Monica: I'm reading and cooking more than I have in years.

Heather: We are cooking like crazy. Homemade tortillas, fondue, even deep-fried Oreos! Basically, anything comfort-food related. You are going to have to ROLL us outta Quarantine! I also made some homemade hand sanitizer for my friends, which was a fun project!

Any advice for your clients during this time in regards to real estate?

Brooke: Great time to search for homes online and catch up on market happenings. LuxuryRenoHomes.com has the ability to search by specific geographic region in Reno, property type, etc. There are also interesting blogs to give you the inside scoop on the area.

Rob: “Be patient, this too shall pass.”

Monica: Try to stay positive and patient.  We will get through this and come out stronger than ever!

Heather: We have always maximized online marketing with 3D Home Tours, Walk-through videos, detailed Virtual Tours, extensive photo galleries, and blog articles. Now, more than ever, you can view real estate from the comfort and safety of your own home.

So while things are certainly interesting around here, we are:

✔️Keeping the long game in mind
✔️Focusing on the positive
✔️Leveraging technology
✔️Supporting our clients
