Mountain Holiday Festivals to Enjoy

Warm your spirits this holiday season with these six festivals in Tahoe and Mammoth.

South Lake Tahoe

Heavenly Holidays: A festival on the mountain! This fun celebration features a 16-foot interactive snow globe where the kids can get their photos taken with Santa. There will also be sleigh rides, ice sculptures, music and a New Year’s celebration with an outdoor concert, a gondola “ball drop” and fireworks.

December 18th – 31th @ Heavenly Village

SnowGlobe Music Festival: This uber popular event will feature three days of music in the heart of Tahoe. A New Year’s Eve celebration will kick off too as dozens of world-class musicians appear on multiple stages. Catch acts such as Above & Beyond, Diplo, Eric Prydz, Rezz, RL Grime and Big Gigantic. Tickets ranges from $199 to $499.

December 29th – 31st @ Community Play Fields, 1 College Way, South Lake Tahoe

NORTH LAKE TAHOE

Merry Days & Holly Nights: Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows ring in the holidays with their Merry Days fest! This twinkling celebration has everything from a moonlit snowshoe tour and dinner to a “Twisted Nutcracker” dance spectacular and everything in between. You’ll also be able to ride the train, play Reindeer Games scavenger hunts, enjoy farm-to-table dinners and more.

December 14th – 31st @ Squaw Alpine

New Year’s Eve Celebration: The party starts at 9pm with live music from Bay Area band The Boombox. There will be an outdoor ice skating rink, cozy fire pits and an elaborate fireworks display at midnight.

December 31st @ The Village at Northstar

MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN

Night of Lights: Welcome the holiday cheer with live music, a torchlight parade, kid’s activities, snowmobile rides and fireworks. There will be photo ops with Santa and Woolly, food and drinks and some magic, too.

December 15th @ Canyon Lodge

New Year’s Eve Fun & Fireworks: This family-friendly fest on the Gondola Deck rings in the New Year with live music, a hot cocoa bar, face painting and a firework show.
