The newest trend for businesses might just be… moving to Reno!

MINEMAN Systems is an international mining software company that will soon be opening its next location in Reno, NV. They recently leased 1,067 sqft. of office space in downtown’s 50 W. Liberty building. Headquartered in Australia, the company’s new Reno offices will allow MINEMAN to expand its global footprint.

The company offers cloud-based software and business services to mining companies. They help mining operations sell and buy base and precious metals around the world. Twenty-eight different countries use their software including big names like Newmont, Goldcorp, Newcrest and more.

“It really removes a lot of the complexity for a mining company,” Omar Adamson, CEO of MINEMAN Systems, said in a phone interview.

The software allows companies to more easily manage operations, allowing management to focus more on higher-level aspects like company strategy, planning and improvements. The company was founded by Adamson in 1984, originally focusing on mining design and engineering. In the early 90’s they started developing their software, trademarking the company name in 1993. Adamson said that it took them about 10 years to build a standardize system.

“Every operation is different,” Adamson said. “You have to set up the software to fit the company like a glove.”

MINEMAN Systems is now a world leader in software and services for metal sales. Just last year, one-third of the world’s traded copper along with a whopping twenty percent of the world’s gold production were sold through MINEMAN. Even more impressive, their software handles approximately 50 shipments of gold and silver ore bars each week. Along with the unique software, the company offers Managed Services, a mining business service.

“The new Managed Services business unit is for those mining companies who wish to outsource all of that work to us, including their revenue financials,” Adamson stated. “Essentially, we manage the entire process of shipping, sales and financials on behalf of the mining company.”

The international software company has 45 full-time employees throughout its five offices in Australia, India, the Philippines, Peru and now Reno. They even have a software developer team in Indonesia. Their new office in the Biggest Little City will allow them to further extend their reach to North America.

“Most of our business already comes from companies headquartered in Canada and the U.S.,” Adamson says. “Also there is no company that supplies the same breadth of services for the mining industry and we feel there is a great deal of potential to supply services to other U.S. and Canadian mining companies.”

Reno was the perfect spot, with its business-friendly tax structure and plenty of office space available. Adamson had been looking to develop an office in the State for a long time and when they were looking to hire a new employee who lived in Northern Nevada, the idea clicked. The company saw the perfect opportunity to open its U.S. headquarters. Adamson hired her and went on to find the perfect office space. He liked the downtown office’s proximity to other businesses and financial institutions. Plus, you can’t beat the beautiful city and mountain views from their tenth-floor offices.

Their Reno-native employee, Sandy Kerr, is the only employee holding down the Reno office for the moment. MINEMAN will hire 6-10 more people over the next 1-2 years, providing more variety to the job pool in Reno. Interested candidates with a strong background in gold accounting and sales can send their resume to enquiries@mineman.com.
