Interbike Marketweek Coming to Reno

Reno-Tahoe has been chosen by the largest U.S. Bicycle Industry Trade Show as its new home.

Interbike is America’ leading cycling trade show and has recently created its very own Interbike Marketweek. The consumer festival will begin with a weekend getaway at the breathtaking Northstar California Resort in Lake Tahoe, followed by a trade-focused OutDoor Demo and moving into the Interbike trade show which will take place in Reno.

“We’re extremely excited about this move for a multitude of reasons,” said Pat Hus, Vice President of Interbike. “For the first time in a very long time, we’ve been able to hit the reset button on Interbike and OutDoor Demo and give the industry something new and fresh that we couldn’t do in our previous locations. With the support and investment from the city of Reno we are going to be able to truly create a one-of-a-kind, week-long celebration and experience around cycling. We also recognize that this is a critical time in our industry and that we need to provide a more cost-effective approach to exhibiting at the show, and we are now able to provide that.”

Reno was chosen for this epic event for a multitude of reasons. The first being the hospitality and the lack of market competition. Interbike will invite attendee from all over the nation and they will be able to receive undivided attention from hotels, restaurants, music venues and the community in general. Another big pull for the trade show is the RENOvation that is happening across the Reno-Tahoe area. No longer focused on gaming, the Biggest Little City has become a fast-growing tech hub and attracted large companies like Tesla, Amazon, Google, Apple, Panasonic and more.

The Jewel of the Sierra, Lake Tahoe, is known as one of the best outdoor biking destinations in the world. This had made it a recreation destination city with big-name cycling brands such as Quality Bicycle Products (QBP), Bicycle Technologies International (BTI) and Hawley-Lambert taking residence with distribution center. The weather doesn’t hurt either. The Northern Nevada region is graced with four beautiful seasons – during the month of September Reno generally enjoys low 80’s throughout the day, dropping to a pleasant mid 60’s at night. Due to this factor, an outdoor test track is planned next to the convention center that will be highlighted by outdoor healthy food dining options.

“Reno-Tahoe International Airport is overjoyed to provide the air service for Interbike attendees when they roll into our region,” said Marily Mora, President/CEO of Reno-Tahoe International Airport. “In addition to offering service on nine airlines, the Airport team is looking forward to making a great first and last impression on Interbike attendees as they arrive and depart this region we are so proud to call home.”

The new format for the Interbike Marketweek is slated to start in September of next year. This year, the trade show still calls the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas home, with the OutDoor Demo taking place in Boulder City, NV. Appreciative of the Vegas partnership, Interbike couldn’t resist the siren call of Reno. They called it an “unmatched blend of world-class venue for a consumer festival” paired with fantastic hotel choices, a fun nightlife and more intimate environment of welcome and celebration.
