Swing into Summer Events in Reno Tahoe

The seasons are flipping from a chilly spring into a sun-drenched summer and area-wide events!

Check out the roundup of memorable summer events below.

The Wildest Richest Rodeo in the West. Kicking off on Wednesday, June 14 with a concert from Dustin Lynch, this event is celebrating its 151st anniversary. Hoot and holler for 10 days and nights with the best of the nation’s cowboys. Held at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Center, the best rodeo competition in the country will attract over 750 professional athletes this year.

Richard Marx Live for One Night Only. On June 24 at 8pm, catch Richard Marx live at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa. An American adult contemporary singer and songwriter, Marx has sold over 30 million records. Some of his big hits include singles such as “Endless Summer Nights,” “Right Here Waiting,” “Now and Forever” and more.

Reno is Artown. For the entire month of July, the city of Reno is devoted to Artown. This means 31 days of live music, dance, theater, performing arts, workshops and more. Pick any day and you will find fantastic art to choose form, including the 2nd annual Reno Chalk Art festival at the Atlantis. Watch artists transform parking spaces into whimsical works of art on July 8 and 9.

American Century Celebrity Golf Tournament. More than 80 of the biggest athletes and entertainers will participate this July 11 through the 16 in Lake Tahoe. Justin Timberlake is set to return in what is considered to be the country’s most prestigious and richest celebrity golf event.

The Barracuda Championship at Montreux Golf and Country Club. After the ACC, come down Mt. Rose Highway to Montreux Golf and Country Club in the Tahoe foothills. A favorite stop on the PGA Tour, the Cuda Champ will be held from July 31 to August 6.

 

Hot August Nights. Back for its 31st year, Hot August Nights is the largest classic car and nostalgic event in the country. Featuring cars from days gone by, the event will run from August 8 through the 13.

Lucas Off-Road Racing. Don’t miss this nationally televised off road racing series. Head down to the short course track right in front of spectators and experience the thrill up close and personal this August 26 and 27.

Best in the West Nugget Rib Cookoff. Celebrating its 29th year in Sparks August 30 through September 4, don’t miss out on these nationally acclaimed ribs. This event has grown to become one of the nation’s best BBQs.

International Camel and Ostrich Races. This annual tradition is held in Virginia City and features camel, ostrich and zebra racing. Jockeys from around the globe to compete for trophies and bragging rights this September 8 through the 10. Virginia City is an old mining town that is a short 20-minute drive from Reno.

Great Reno Balloon Race. Attracting nearly 90 hot air balloons soaring high above the Reno skyline, this early morning festival is not to be missed. The world’s largest free hot-air balloon festival will be held the weekend of September 8 and will be celebrating its 36th year.

National Championship Air Races. The last big event of the Summer/Fall season! The only closed course pylon racing event in the world will take place on September 13 through the 17. There are six different race plane classes who battle just 50 feet from the ground.
