Reno Inspire Supports Women in Business

All women, all entrepreneurs, all inspired.

Inspire Reno is changing up the business game for women in Reno. Susan Ackerman was struck with a vision when she attended an all-women entrepreneur event. After seeing folks listening attentively to a workshop leader, huddled around tables networking over coffee, a room full of like-minded people who are chock-full of ideas, she knew. She went to the owner and asked to lease the building housing the event, a historic mansion disguised as an office building along the Truckee River in downtown Reno.

From that, Inspire Reno, a women’s entrepreneurial development center, was born. Ackerman is an author, speaker, motivator and entrepreneur in her own right. When she got the go-ahead to lease the 3,900 sqft. Mansion, she held on open house in December to gauge interest in the community. All ages of women at all stages of entrepreneurship from the Reno-Sparks area were welcomed to visit. The open house was announced just six days before the event and it was just two days after Christmas. Despite these factors, the response was strong and more than 75 women walked through the door.

Inspire Reno was officially launched the first of this year. The Lora J. Knight House has been transformed to house these successful women.

“Women are hungry for it,” Ackerman said with a smile. “Reno has this amazing community of women who are ready, and Inspire Reno is ready to help them. It’s like we’re finding each other at just the right time.”

Events such as “The Psychology of Selling: Charging what you’re Worth” and “Social Media and Your Business” will be offered to the public, presented by community professionals. The center is focused on creating a positive, creative environment for women’s personal and professional growth. The membership program that they offer includes mentorships, cooperative work and presentation space, social events, workshops, mastermind sessions and more.

Inspire Reno already has more than 50 members and a lengthy waiting list. Memberships are a very reasonable $200 a year.

“Only being two and a half months old, I’m watching them grow right before my eyes,” Ackerman said. “I’m watching their confidence grow, their relationships grow, their collaborations grow.”

The center focuses on a “Wheel of Life” coaching tool perspective, in which you create balance and greater success both personally and professionally. This applies to health and wellness as well as wealth and finances. Their events and workshops span every subject in the wheel to provide growth and greatness. The space even includes seven office spaces occupied by a range of successful female entrepreneurs. The tenants include interior designers, graphic artists, family therapists, nutritional coaches and more. The place is teeming with creative and collaborative spirit.
